We are delighted to share our latest home school financial education programme: Family Money Twist – Years 3-6*.
This free online resource of videos, games and quizzes teaches 7-11 year olds the basics of money whilst setting positive money habits.
It is designed for direct use by children, with actionable ‘tell/ask/show your parent’ activities to prompt important conversations throughout the home. They can be introduced via families or a teachers’ adapted curriculum.
With nearly five million primary school aged pupils in the UK at home it is a unique opportunity for parents to tackle topics they often lack the time, confidence or skills to address. Research shows lifelong money habits can be formed by the age of 7.
*P4-6 in Scotland
- Needs and Wants: Where money comes from, and understanding common needs and wants found in the home.
- How to Budget: Understanding the importance of budgeting, and creating a budget for bedroom decoration.
- Saving and Delayed Gratification: Exploring the concept of delayed gratification and creating personal saving goals.
The programme involves maths, art, drama and literacy skills. Children can choose a task that compliments their learning style, through age and ability, with our ‘Make it, Say it, or Write it’ options in each session.
We also offer an online Years 1-2** parent / teacher-led programme.
Steve Korris, our Expansion & Impact Director tried it our Family Money Twist resources with his daughter, Matilda, 7:
“It’s provided a great platform to kick start money discussions at home. At school she has learnt coin recognition and maths sums, but nothing about how money works, value, income and savings. As a parent I really welcome the opportunity for her to learn more about money at home and from a younger age. She’s very inquisitive so will definitely be asking questions now we’ve got her started.”
MyBnk is re-imagining our award winning offering for 5-25 year olds, including live streams for young adults. We have also created a dedicated space on our website featuring service updates, Home Learning products and Free Resources as well as immediate support for young adults including guides and signposting.
